Lippman, Semsker & Salb has served the gay community since the firm was formed in 1972.

With extensive experience in second-parent adoptions, surrogacy law, domestic partnership agreements, family dissolutions, and estate planning for gay and lesbian families, and employment discrimination claims, we have the skill and experience to serve the gay community’s special needs.

The experienced attorneys in our practice are familiar with all aspects of planning for the non-traditional family, including estate and gift taxes, income taxes, adoption, partnerships and other agreements, government and employee benefits and long-term care.

Few firms have the experience and commitment to the gay community that Lippman, Semsker & Salb has. This has been particularly important as the legal landscape for gay families has undergone rapid and radical change in recent years. When D.C. changed its tax laws as it relates to gay families, we were ready to help our clients understand how that could affect them. When same-sex marriage finally became legal in every state in our nation, we were ready to guide our clients through what that momentous change might mean for them. Because of our skill and experience in domestic relations matters and our long service to the gay and lesbian community, we are among the best-equipped firms to represent gay and lesbian people in the formation and dissolution of their relationships. We have represented numerous men and women in divorces and separations from same-sex relations.

We are also active participants in the community. We proudly support Equality Maryland, the Human Rights Campaign, and the Mautner Project, among others. In addition to cash donations, Lippman, Semsker & Salb has donated more than a dozen estate plans to schools and non-profits, including the Human Rights Campaign, Equality Maryland, the Mautner Project, to be sold at silent auction fund-raisers.
