In a sweeping decision, a D.C. administrative court judge has ruled that lay midwifery is legal in the District. With powerful language and a clear vision, the judge held that midwifery — assisting women to give birth — is not the practice of medicine, and therefore is not regulated by D.C. law. This is a major success for our client, and for all D.C. residents who wish to have the liberty to chose how they delivery their babies.
