Lippman, Semsker & Salb has been serving the greater Washington area for forty years. Our service is not limited to providing legal services to paying clients. Each year, we devote many hours to pro bono services for people who have a great need for legal services but who are unable to afford the cost. Each year, we devote many hours to community and bar service, helping to improve the legal system so that it serves attorneys and litigants better. Each year, we donate money to legal services providers, like the Washington Area Lawyers for the Arts and the DC Bar Pro Bono Project, doing our part to ensure that legal services organizations can continue to exist despite challenging economic times.
Sometimes, we are able to devote our time to special projects. For example, in 2009 we spearheaded the effort which led to the passage of the Child’s Right to Nurse Act in Washington, DC. After recognizing the attacks that some women faced when nursing their babies outside of their homes, we proposed to Councilmember Graham that the City Council pass a bill. We drafted a bill that expanded the DC Human Rights Act, thereby gaining the enforcement mechanisms built into that law. And we rallied supporters of the bill whenever it faltered. We are very proud of our work in that case and are pleased to participate in civic issues of importance.
We also are happy to be able to support local schools, nonprofit organizations, and religious organizations by donating estate planning packages for the organizations to auction off. We donate our time so that the proceeds can be used by organizations that desperately need support. The logos on this page represent some of the organizations to which we have donated estate plans during the past several years. We have great pride that we have been able to make contributions valued in the tens of thousands of dollars.
