Education Law for Students Who Have Special Educational Needs.

Schools have a responsibility to provide students who have disabilities or special educational needs with access to all programs and activties.

Section 504 is a federal law that ensures that individuals with disabilities have full access to all programs and activities that receive federal funding in primary and secondary schools. It mandates that a student with a disability shall not be excluded from participation in or subject to discrimination under any program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.

The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) governs how states and public agencies provide early intervention, special education, and related services to children with disabilities.

The standards and procedures for qualifying as disabled under either law differ and we are happy to help parents or provide representation for the process.
